Maryland’s Place in Space is a series of events hosted by NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) and The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). Both organizations recognized their 50th anniversary in 2009 with the following events for Maryland’s Place in Space May 30 to June 1, 2009.

Community Public Event, May 30, 2009 Baltimore Convention Center
This event will showcase the contributions of many science researchers, academic institutions, companies, and laboratories within the state of Maryland.

50th Anniversary Evening Celebration, May 30, 2009 Baltimore Convention Center
This celebration for current employees and retirees of the Maryland space community, included a cocktail reception, a sit-down dinner and anniversary festivities.

A Salute to Maryland's Place in Space, June 1, 2009  Maryland Science Center
Led by Master of Ceremonies Tom Jones, the program covered Maryland achievements in science and technology over the past 50 years.
